Christmas Cookies
Joan Brune’s recipe
INGREDIENTS
1 cup butter 🧈 
2 cups sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten 🥚 
2 tsp vanilla
6½ cups flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp nutmeg
2 cup buttermilk (mixed with 2 tsp baking soda)
ICING INGREDIENTS
12 cups powdered sugar
3⅔ cup crisco
8–12 tbsp cold water
4 tsp vanilla
* Beat on low mixer setting till fully combined *
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 425º 
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar till fluffy, then mix in eggs and vanilla 
- In a separate bowl, combine all dry ingredients 
- Alternately mix in flour and buttermilk + baking soda 
- Roll out on floured board to ½” thick and cut with cookie cutters 
- Place on greased cookie sheet (or lined with parchment paper) 
- Bake for 12 min.
